This bundle brings together four ABA literature summaries from 2011 and 2012 on bullying, severe emotional disturbance, inclusion, and the transition from adolescence to adulthood. The articles describe study methods, reported findings and recommendations across school, family, college and employment settings.
Original issue credits: Cindy Ring and Michele LaMarche. The four issues were published by Special Learning in 2011 and 2012.
Material context: The severe emotional disturbance issue includes a BHRS study that excluded participants with an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis.
The bullying issue reviews cyberbullying, school-wide and team approaches, peer support, and students’ experiences of inclusion. The severe emotional disturbance issue examines parent-professional partnerships, family resources and stressors, school-based supports, and self-monitoring research.
The transition issue covers postsecondary aspirations, social and vocational groups, leisure and sexuality education, self-monitoring, video modeling, work systems and employment supports.
The inclusion issue compares educational settings and IEP goals, discusses group social interventions and friendship networks, and reviews college inclusion models and transition considerations.
