Building Soft Skills - Communication & Professionalism in the Digital World
You could be the first person to provide your opinion.
Workplace expectations can be hard to teach when terms such as professionalism remain vague. Jenna Sage, with panelist Jennifer Rumfola, uses recorded workplace scenarios to examine communication, work ethic, problem solving and digital conduct as behaviors that supervisors and staff can define and discuss.

An attendance scenario and an overly informal team email make expectations concrete. Sage models an email-coaching conversation that explores intent, clarifies expectations and includes practice and follow-up.
The digital discussion considers hiring decisions, online identity, confidentiality and respectful responses when an applicant has no visible profile. Although the session introduces eight NACE competencies, it develops four; the digital block gives more attention to identity and policies than to worked technology-based problem solving.
What does this recording cover?
- The session defines professionalism through accountability, punctuality, productivity and workload boundaries.
- The email scenario examines coaching, communication conventions and shared expectations.
- The flat-tire scenario examines the order of communication and assistance after a disrupted appointment.
- The digital discussion covers public online content, professional identity, confidentiality and safety or access reasons for having no visible profile.
- The competency task-list discussion connects defined behaviors with training, assessment, maintenance and self-monitoring.
Recording context: This historical recording develops four of the eight competencies introduced. The recording date is not supplied.
