Sarah Winningham and Tamar L. Varnai introduce data collection in applied behavior analysis. This recorded session compares continuous and discontinuous measurement, steps for recording behavior and checks on measurement quality, then connects sample sheets to teaching, daily routines and task analysis.

The session begins with defining a target behavior and deciding who will record it, when and where. The presenters compare frequency, rate, duration, latency, interresponse time and interval-based methods.
Later sections distinguish accuracy, reliability and validity and discuss observer agreement. Examples cover ABC records, scatterplots, task analysis and first-response or trial-by-trial recording; graphing and analysis are identified as topics for a subsequent session.
What does this recording cover?
- Behavior definitions and recording arrangements
- Continuous and discontinuous measurements
- Frequency, duration, latency and intervals
- Measurement quality and observer agreement
- ABC records, task analysis and teaching data
